SSCO is proud to work with the Stevens Square Center for the Arts on neighborhood arts programming.
The Stevens Square Center for the Arts is a nonprofit arts organization, formed in 2003 by local artists to redevelop vacant office space in the Stevens Square-Loring Heights neighborhood of Minneapolis into a community arts center. SSCA currently leases over 4,000 square feet of studio and gallery space, providing affordable work studios for 12 artists and month-long exhibition opportunities to local artists. Additionally, SSCA partners with artists and organizations to offer free art classes to local artists, and provide affordable work and event space to local community organizations. SSCA continues to be run by its membership of local artists and is financially independent, with studio and space rental fees covering 100% of expenses. The mission of the Stevens Square Center for the Art is to:
Serve as a resource to provide for the continued development and improvement of the Stevens Square-Loring Heights neighborhood.
